    As one of Victoria’s famous wine regions within an hours' drive from Melbourne, the Yarra Valley is dotted with wineries that let you skip the reluctant drive back for sunset strolls or sleep-in among the vines instead.

    So, pack a bag. Leave space for wine, too. Whether you’re planning a romantic weekend, a group getaway, or just an excuse to wake up with vineyard views, here are 11 Yarra Valley wineries with accommodation to consider. 

    Balgownie Estate
    Set in the heart of the Yarra Valley, the Balgownie Estate winery doesn't just boast vast vineyard views, their really fancy restaurant 1309 and great wine collections, but it salso has one of the most luxurious accommodations you can find in the region. With about 70 spacious, modern rooms, you're sure to find one that suits your budget. They offer standard hotel rooms, two-bedroom suites with private balconies, Director suites, and accessible suites to suit their guests. 

    Included in your stay at the estate is complimentary access to the gym, free Wi-Fi, and the option to stop by the spa for wellness treatments and packages.


     



    Re’em Hotel (Helen & Joey Estate)

    Re’em Hotel is a 16-room boutique hotel, restaurant, and cellar door situated on the Helen & Joey Estate winery in the Yarra Valley. The estate is one of the larger wineries in the region, spanning over 200 acres with a small lake, and is quite popular for producing four distinct wine brands that thoughtfully complement their Chinese-Australian blend menu. 

    Among all 16 rooms, the top floor houses four spacious suites with oversized soaking baths overlooking the scenery, while the other 12 are spread across two floors: six with private balconies and six with direct garden access. The rooms accommodate two guests, and whichever package you book includes a breakfast spread with local produce and a welcome drink to begin your stay in style.




    Sutherland Estate
    Situated within the elegant, tranquil 110-acre property of the Sutherland Estate winery is Yarra Valley’s accommodation at its most romantic —2-storey unique towers framing the cellar door, with huge windows overlooking the vineyard and the surrounding.

    The room interiors have this cabin-like aesthetic that's equally simple and exotic, which really adds to its charm. The ground floor consists of a relaxing lounge with tea and breakfast area, while the upper storey is the cozy bedrooms with an ensuite and balcony. It's the perfect base for weekend getaways or your winery tour layover. You can book a minimum of two nights, and it includes a breakfast hamper for each morning.



     

    Seville Estate
    Seville Estate offers extended stay, with two styles of accommodation: the estate Homestead (pictured), a four-bedroom home nestled within the scenic-view garden, and the three Vineyard Apartments.

    Each room in the Homestead is furnished and equipped with a queen bed, dining and lounge area, a well-equipped kitchen, and an ensuite bathroom. It's a great choice for a large group visiting. The three Vineyard Apartment are self-contained/ studio apartments stylishly fitted with everything you’ll need for a relaxing stay, perfect for couples.

    Additionally, these apartments are situated just a short stroll from the estate cellar door, offering separate road access. Its restaurant sources its produce from local Yarra Valley providores, and changes its menu weekly based on what's freshly grown or made in season. 

    Belaradah on Stefani Estate
    Stefani Estate is a family-owned boutique winery established in 1998, and has three unique vineyard sites. The Belaradah vineyard site is where the estate’s accommodation is located, just within a five-minute drive from Healesville township.

    They offer two open-plan units: the Red Oak Unit and the White Gum Unit (pictured), both of which accommodate up to 4 guests. Each unit is a well-furnished two-bedroom with a double door open deck to appreciate the spectacular view, and it accommodates up to four guests.

    The best part? Its proximity to some of the Valley’s best attractions, such as Healesville Sanctuary, TarraWarra Museum of Art, Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery, and many wineries and restaurants.

     


    Soumah of Yarra Valley

    Soumah brings Northern Italy's charm to the Yarra Valley.  Its winery offers a variety of spacious, modern country-style living accommodations, too, right in the middle of their Hexham vineyard.

    Accommodation includes Villa Sophia (pictured) with fully furnished four bedrooms, ensuite, two bathrooms, and three fireplaces including an outdoor hearth as well as three Studio Villettes (perfect for couples) and the Grande-Villetta, which includes a double murphy bed for kids, as well as more kitchen, lounge, and dining space. 

    Hanrahan and Pimpernel Vineyards are within walking distance and Rochford Wines and Levantine Hill vineyards are just 2km away.



    Wild Cattle Creek Estate
    The Wild Cattle Creek estate is the perfect winery for an intimate wedding. Set amidst a 19-acre landscape of gardens and vineyards, this winery features a restaurant, a cellar door, event function room, and accommodation for up to 30 guests.  

    Choose from the Lotus & Vineyard Villa, the Wallace Homestead, and the Merlot Cottage. While the Lotus Villa overlooks the lotus pond on the estate, the Vineyard Villa opens to a view of the rolling vineyard, comprising 1- or 2-bedroom combinations fully self-contained and equipped.

    The Wallace Historic Homestead (pictured) is a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home retaining its 19th-century style. Perfect for a family or a large group. The Merlot Cottage is a simple, spacious yet private 1-bedroom ensuite with a lounge and kitchenette, beautifully furnished, set on the lawns of the Homestead.

    Yarra Yering Homestead
    Yarra Yering is another iconic Yarra Valley winery established in 1969 and renowned for its distinctive blends and single varietals, including the flagship Dry Red Wine No. 1. And nestled within their 90-acre vineyard is their homestead accommodation.

    A 5-bedroom fully equipped home, 4 x Queen, 1 x Twin, and two bathrooms, that takes up to 10 guests. It has all the necessary amenities, including an outdoor fireplace and a private pool. You can book an extended stay to enjoy their wine tasting or set out to explore the other award-winning wineries, restaurants, and popular attractions just a stone's throw away. 

     

     

    The George at Yering (Yering Farm Wines)
    The Yering Farm planted its first vine in 1989 and has forged a household name through time by producing one of the Yarra Valley’s vintage wines. Set within a 100-acre property of rolling vineyards and orchards is a cellar door for wine tasting, and a farm stay accommodation known as The George.

    The George is an open-plan home that oozes real country charm: leather couches, timber flooring, central dining, and even a library room. The house consists of six bedrooms on the ground floor and one grand master suite upstairs—a total of 7 rooms to accommodate 14 guests. Oh yeah, you also get to enjoy the tropical-style surroundings of the inground solar-heated saltwater pool. Or soak in the heated spa.


     


    Meletos
    One of the larger Yarra Valley venues, bringing a touch of Tuscany to the Yarra Valley, Meletos is world-renowned for its expansive grounds, amazing Euro-Australian inspired food and stunning views.

    Created by the people behind Stones of the Yarra Valley, The Stables at Stones and No.7 Healesville, Meletos encompasses a regional café, events space, providore, and brewery, all housed within converted century-old vignerons quarters and surrounded by apple orchards and vineyards.


    The Villa (pictured) is a 5-bedroom self-contained haven with a pretty courtyard and queen-sized beds with ensuites while The Farmhouse is a 23-room boutique hotel with free breakast at the Meletos Restaurant.

    Chateau Yering
    Add a little fantasy to your weekend away by staying at heritage-listed Chateau Yering. It's a little younger than the Bridgerton era, but if you made it a phone-free weekend, your time-travelling fantasy would be complete!

    Ideal for larger groups, the early Victorian-era mansion, set on 250 acres in the Yarra Valley, boasts 32 individually furnished five-star guest suites. Many of the suites feature private balconies or verandahs showcasing the superb views of the garden. Dine for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays, or for dinner from Wednesday to Sunday at its Eleonore's Restaurant, named after the mother of the man who built Chateau Yering.

    Fun fact: at the site of Chateau Yering Hotel, in 1838 the Yarra Valley region's very first vineyard was planted.
