Australian Wine Regions With EV Charging Units

If you own - or are renting - an electric vehicle to visit Australia's wine regions, you need to ensure your car can be safely charged when you're away for a day trip, weekend away or longer holiday.

Most Australian wine regions are 1-4 hours drive from a capital city, so it's reassuring to know you can plug in your EV to charge while you enjoy a coffee, or lunch.

Free EV charging
Free EV charging in Australia is typically found at select curbside chargers (where the first 7kW is free), NRMA/RACV/RAA/RAC/RACT/RACQ fast chargers, and some local councils, visitor information centres, libraries, or shopping centre carparks.

EV charging apps
You'll need to use EV charging apps such as BP Pulse, Chargefox, Evie Networks, Exploren, JOLT, and Plugshare, and many of these are 7kW–22kW AC chargers rather than high-speed DC. Tesla superchargers charge a fee.

Please note: our list below is not exhaustive, and you will need to check the EV units are operating on an app prior to your trip. Most wineries and hotels will require you to be a guest, or pay to access to EV charging. Some also are suitable only for certain car makes, such as Porsche or Tesla. In most cases, you will need to supply your own cord.
